Studies have revealed that humans are hard-wired to fear unpredictable movements and irregular, especially jointed, forms. At least most humans! This behavior evolved following our transition from living amongst nature to living in large sterile boxes from which we can safely view nature. I count myself among those fortunate to remain attracted to, and at ease around, such creatures as arachnids. I predominantly depict spiders in pen and ink, using very fine lines to capture on paper what is also delicate in nature.
