Purpose:
There are times when I want to focus on a subject so exclusively that the natural background must be minimized to avoid detraction. This is especially true for my tiniest subjects. It is irrefutable that "great things come in small packages". Small "packages" represent all of the elegance and mastery of eons of selection. Having a field studio allows me to get extremely close without physical contact with live subjects. Live specimens are challenging, but abundantly rewarding. An individual may give me just moments of capture time or perhaps graciously, as many as 60 seconds. In the absence of the studio, I frame macro subjects such that the background is complementary to the organism. Images captured outside of the studio could be classified as wildlife. However, I have placed them in this gallery when their overall size can be measured in millimeters or centimeters.
